WINDY CITY ICE FASTPITCH SOFTBALL

Girls Softball “A” Travel Division

Windy City Ice Fastpitch Softball is starting its 28th season in 2019 - 20.  The Windy City Ice is an “A” travel softball organization.  Windy City Ice teams consist of young ladies who have committed themselves to playing the game of softball with the goal of playing in junior high, high school, and college.  The coaching staffs of all the ICE teams pride themselves on developing the girls’ softball skills, knowledge of the game, strong work ethics, and positive attitudes.

We are committed to making this program a way for the girls in the south side area to play class “A” travel fastpitch softball against teams from other areas.  Our goal is to field the strongest teams from the Cook County area, but we do allow girls from outside Cook County to play on the teams.  This sheet lists important information regarding the Windy City Ice Fastpitch Travel Program.  Please read this carefully and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask for more information.

PLAYER COMMITMENT

We will have regular practice sessions during the fall, winter, and early spring.  We expect all players to participate in these sessions.  For the most part, the player’s fees will pay for the cost of these sessions.  Naturally, conflicts do arise and we expect each player to notify the manager about these conflicts.  Remember, these sessions are geared towards making each girl a better player and the team stronger.

During the regular season, players are expected to make ALL practices, weekday games, tournaments, and Nationals at the end of the season.  We usually roster 12 or 14 players on each team, so that each player will get playing time throughout the season.  For those parents and players who are playing travel softball for the first time, please realize that weather, the travel time, and “softball weekends” are all part of the program.

TOURNAMENTS AND GAMES

Based on last year’s schedule, expect to play approximately 40 to 80 games per team, which will include up to 8 or more tournaments depending on the age of the girls.  Each team should expect to play in several ASA, PGF, NSA, and USSSA qualifying tournaments which are important if the team plans on playing in any year-end National tournaments, as each team did during the 2018 season.  You will be expected to cover the cost for any lodging and transportation for all tournaments requiring an overnight stay, including the National Tournaments, as those costs are not covered by the Player Fee.  Each team should expect to have at least two tournaments that will require staying overnight at the tournament site.

SPONSOR PROGRAM

Sponsors are welcomed.  A family can lower the amount of money they have to spend “out-of-pocket.”  The player will receive 70% of the sponsor fees this will be applied to the player’s fees. The other 30 % goes to the Ice fastpitch for organizational cost. Most companies will use this donation as a tax write off. If you don’t ask, you will not receive. The worst thing that could happen is you hear a no.
